Density functional theory predictions of anharmonicity and spectroscopic constants for diatomic molecules

چکیده
The reliability of density functional theory and other electronic structure methods is examined for anharmonicities and spectroscopic constants of the ground electronic states of several diatomic molecules. The equilibrium bond length re , harmonic vibrational frequency ve , vibrational anharmonicity vexe , rotational constant Be , centrifugal distortion constant D̄e , and vibration-rotation interaction constant ae have been obtained theoretically for BF, CO, N2, CH , and H2. Predictions using Hartree–Fock, coupled-cluster singles and doubles ~CCSD!, coupled cluster singles and doubles with perturbative triples @CCSD~T!#, and various density functional methods ~S-VWN, BLYP, and B3LYP! have been made using the 6-31G*, aug-cc-pVDZ, and aug-cc-pVTZ basis sets and compared to experimental values. Density functional theory predictions of the spectroscopic constants are reliable ~particularly for B3LYP! and often perform as well as the more expensive CCSD and CCSD~T! estimates. © 2001 American Institute of Physics. @DOI: 10.1063/1.1386412#

Prediction of spectroscopic constants for diatomic molecules in the ground and excited states using time-dependent density functional theory
Spectroscopic constants of the ground and next seven low-lying excited states of diatomic molecules CO, N2, P2, and ScF were computed using the density functional theory SAOP/ATZP model, in conjunction with time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) and a recently developed Slater type basis set, ATZP. Spectroscopic constants, including the equilibrium distances r(e), harmonic vibrationa...

In order to represent the potential energy function over the whole range of R, many potentialenergy functions have been proposed. In the present paper, we employ many potential energyfunctions, to use Numerov method for solving the nuclear Schrödinger equation for the IFmolecule, as an example of a heteronuclear diatomic molecules. Then we determine thespectroscopic constants eω , e e x ω , e B...

متن کاملPerformance of W4 theory for spectroscopic constants and electrical properties of small molecules.
Accurate spectroscopic constants and electrical properties of small molecules are determined by means of W4 and post-W4 theories. For a set of 28 first- and second-row diatomic molecules for which very accurate experimental spectroscopic constants are available, W4 theory affords near-spectroscopic or better predictions. Specifically, the root-mean-square deviations (RMSDs) from experiment are ...
متن کاملHydrogen Abstraction Reaction of Hydroxyl Radical with 1,1-Dibromoethane and 1,2-Dibromoethane Studied by Using Semi-Classical Transition State Theory
The hydrogen abstraction reaction by OH radical from CH2BrCH2Br (R1) and CH₃CHBr2 (R2) is investigated theoretically by semi-classical transition state theory. The stationary points for both reactions are located by using ωB97X-D and KMLYP density functional methods along with cc-pVTZ basis. Single-point energy calculations are performed at the QCISD(T) and CCSD(T) levels of theory with differe...
